Cat-Eye Liner, How to Create

 
A cat-eye is an exotic eyeliner option that adds interest and intrigue to your face. It is created when your upper lid lash line attaches to a subtly winging lower lid lash line. Selecting the proper brush and optimal eyeliner medium will aid you in successfully completing your cat-eye. Because this requires a steady hand and some experience, practice several times to hone your cat-eye skills.

• Cream, powder or liquid eyeliner

Practice your cat-eye technique on a bare eye, so you can remove the eyeliner and try over again. Put on all of your other eye makeup, including brow filler, prior to applying your eyeliner. Select an eyeliner brush that is tapered to a point. Select cream eyeliner for a sheen effect or powder eyeliner for a more subtle effect. Choose liquid eyeliner for the most dramatic effect.

Dip your dampened brush into your cream or powder eyeliner by laying the brush on its side and twirling it in the container of liner. If using liquid eyeliner, remove any excess liquid by blotting your pen with a tissue. Look down at the mirror, while your head is back to allow your eyes to remain open while you apply eyeliner to the top lid. Rest your elbow on the counter top while applying the eyeliner to increase the steadiness of your hands. Apply the liner on the top lid, moving from the inside toward the outside. Add depth to the outside of the line for a more intense cat-eye.

Add a wing to the lower or upper lash dine, depending upon your preference. Make a small wing for a sophisticated cat-eye and increase the wing to intensify the drama. Draw an even line along the bottom of the eye, always building up slowly, as it is easier to add more than to edit what is already drawn. Connect the upper and lower lash lines. Remove any excess by wiping it away with a cotton applicator that has been dipped in makeup remover.
